Creating a YouTube Channel

Today I spent time working on my highly anticipated new YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/marceaudavid.  I have not done any video production since college, a couple dozen years ago.  I was a Mass Communication major so this is actually what I went to school for before the Dotcom Boom swept me into the Tech field.

Back then everything was on Hi-8 video tapes.  I even did a lot of audio production on reel-to-reel, at the time.  Believe it or not, kids, but we did Cut & Paste with a real razor blade and a roll of tape.  So there was a slight learning curve with the digital editing software today.  But I was able to cut out the parts I wanted to nix, add an intro and credits, and even some music.

Sadly, I will not be able to use the video.  I am not happy with the results.  It was recorded outdoors, Saturday.  The sunlight was great but it made me squint the entire time and washed out the color in my face.  The camera was shaky and the sound was poor.  It was my Cameragirl's first time making a video and I think my daughter had one of her little fingers over the microphone, at times.

Then there was me.  I wanted to speak s-l-o-w-l-y but I spoke so slowly that it sounds ridiculous.  I sounded like if Mr. Snuffleupagus and Eeyore had a baby and they fed him Valium.  If the video ever sees the light of day it will become a meme, and not a good one, if there is such a thing.

The next nice day will be Wednesday of this week.  (Today and tomorrow it is pouring and in the low 40's Fahrenheit.)  By then I should have a tripod which will relieve the shaky camera and covered microphone issues.  I should be able to get the video posted Wednesday night but if not it will be up by Friday.  Stay tuned...

I have nine episodes planned.  I will be on-location somewhere for most of them.  I cannot wait to record them.  This will be fun.

Quick and Dirty

In the meantime, the interview the folks at The-Unidentified.net recorded of me about my UFO Sighting aired today.  I think it came out pretty good.  There was one part I wish I could re-do, though, where I mention I sent a "quick and dirty" message to TTSA.  It sounds like I sent a "dirty message" to TTSA - completely different meaning.  I did not send a dirty message to TTSA, for the record.  It was totally appropriate.

Quick and Dirty
Quick and Dirty Techie Nerd
I do not even know why I said, "quick and dirty."  It is not a common expression.  I got that from back when I was a techie nerd.  Microsoft's first operating system was called Q-DOS which stood for Quick and Dirty Operating System.  It was later shortened to just DOS.  I have always liked the expression and will use it from time to time but I think I may be the only person in the world who still does.  I will have to stop doing that.  Maybe.

Anyway, the interview went well and the Unidentified guys seemed to like it.  They are promoting it a lot.  I hope you like it too.  Check it out at https://www.spreaker.com/user/the-unidentified.net/david-marceau  After listening to it, let me know what you think by posting a comment below.
